The popularity of staying local (“stay-cation” vacations, farm-to-table dinners. etc.) is on the rise. And more people are discovering that you don’t have to leave the country to have the mission trip experience. In fact, there are many opportunities to serve others right in your own backyard. If you’re looking for local missions, look no further than Crossnore School & Children’s Home!

The Visiting Resource Program

Some children living at Crossnore are not able to visit safely with their families. Crossnore’s Visiting Resource Program pairs members of the community with a child or sibling group. Upon completion of the application and training, Visiting Resources enjoy on-campus visits and off-campus activities (with Crossnore Case Manager approval). Positive role models are essential in the healthy development of a child. You can provide support, share live experiences and create wonderful childhood memories that will last a lifetime.

Flex Your Skills

Serve those in your community who need a bit of assistance and learn a new skill in the process. At Crossnore, you can learn to weave at Crossnore Weavers. You can volunteer to assist the Recreation Department with trail maintenance. Sometimes we need folks to serving as a classroom assistant during specialty camps. Or to help man the counter at Miracle Grounds Farm Store. Wherever your interest lies, there are opportunities for individuals and groups to develop new talents while giving back.

Support through Sponsorship

Cottage Sponsors are a great source of encouragement for both the children of Crossnore and the cottage staff. As a Cottage Sponsor, you may participate in the many life milestones of the kids from a particular cottage. From holidays and birthdays to graduation and other special occasions, you can help the children build special memories. And developing positive relationships further creates a sense of normalcy in their life.

Monetary support is not a required or expected part of cottage sponsorship. However, you may fund outings or treats (birthday cakes, flowers after a performance, etc.) when appropriate.
