Foster Care Support Group
May 14th, 6:30pm– CHOOSE ONE: “Whole Family Care” or “Loss, Hurt, & Hope for Foster Parents”
- Whole Family Care: Families weren’t made to live alone, with little or no social interaction and support. Every parent experiences feeling burned out and a bit frustrated, and want you to know it’s okay to acknowledge this challenge. Most parents have never faced a pandemic, and we want to help lessen the load of expectations and encourage you to take a deep breath. We want to spend some time together talking about what is happening and provide a few tools for you to use with your family.
- Loss and Foster Children and Parents: Using the Sanctuary Model of Care and walking through the SELF model, David will explore the impact the dynamics and complexity of Loss in different family structures.
May 21st, 6:30pm– “Managing Expectations”
- One of the biggest reasons placements fail is because of a mismatch between the parents’ expectations about fostering or adopting and the reality of it. In this support group, we will explore how these unrealistic expectations can interfere with our ability to see and parent the child we actually have.
May 28th, 6:30pm– A Night of Encouragement with Shenandoah Chefalo
- Author, Speaker, Trainer, and former foster youth, Shenandoah Chefalo will host a time of Q&A and encouragement for foster families and those who need a bright spot in these difficult times.
We will also be offering weekly “Connection Groups” for children ages 5-9, 10-13, and 14+. Please RSVP.
Foster Care: NOW - A Foster Care Awareness Event
In an environment of praise and worship we will look at the need in the foster care world, the biblical calling of foster care, hear testimonies of those walking the foster care journey, and find ways that anyone can get involved in the community of foster care right NOW even if they can’t foster.
