Reflecting with Gratitude for our Community

by

It is not how much we do, but how much love we put into what we do. These words by Mother Teresa remind us of the many ways our friends and supporters live out this beautiful sentiment all year long.

At Crossnore, we remain resolute in our commitment to changing the landscape for supporting children and families impacted by trauma. The needs are great, but so is our gratitude for the community that walks alongside us in this work. Your support, in so many forms, helps ensure that children and families have what they need to thrive in their homes, schools, and communities.

Meeting Immediate Needs with Magic

We are especially grateful for the communities in which we live and work.  Our friends, donors, and partners show up again and again with generosity and care.

When a child needs clothing, bedding, or other essentials, a single email to our church partners, DAR chapters, or civic organizations is often all it takes. Soon after, those items appear – almost magically – on our campuses, ready to meet immediate needs and provide comfort to a child in transition.

The Foundation of Connection

Thank you for welcoming us into your workplaces, community gatherings, and places of worship. Spending time together, sharing the mission of Crossnore, and lifting the stories and needs of the children and families we serve is the foundation of our strong, connected community.

There are moments when our work feels like pure joy:

  • Movie nights and popcorn under the stars,
  • Trips to Tweetsie Railroad for a day of adventure, or
  • Simple evenings out for dinner where memories are made.

These experiences create meaningful connections and memories for children, and we are deeply thankful to those who help make these moments possible. Your enthusiasm and generosity fuel our passion and inspire us to meet each child where they are, with whatever care and creativity is needed.

The Backbone of Healing: Donors & Volunteers

Financial support remains the backbone of all we do. Individual donors and family foundations are the cornerstone of Crossnore’s mission. Your faithful commitment has sustained this work for decades and continues to make it possible for us to respond to trauma with compassion and innovation. We are grateful for our foundation partners who invest in new and innovative approaches, helping bring hope and healing to children and families in North Carolina.

We also count on our dedicated volunteers; whether you are supporting our cottages, tending gardens, or caring for animals, you are part of the healing that happens here. When you see the look on a child’s face as they connect with an animal or taste a vegetable they helped grow, you understand the true power of these moments.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we prepare to bid farewell to 2025, we look ahead with hope. Because when we come together in community, we can – and will – continue changing the lives of children and families across North Carolina.

A final invitation. If you feel moved as the year comes to a close, we invite you to consider a year-end gift to Crossnore. Your support helps ensure children and families continue to receive the care, stability, and healing they need–today and in the year ahead.
