Dress for Success

Success in education is very important for the children who live at The Crossnore School. From the day children arrive on our campus, we begin talking about graduation. Even our kindergarteners know that they are part of the Class of 2029!

Ten seniors graduated from Marjorie Williams Academy in the Class of 2016. We are proud to report that all 10 of them are enrolled in college this semester.

Part of that success is appropriate dress. Students at Marjorie Williams Academy wear a uniform of khaki pants, solid color polo shirt, and close-toed shoes. Except on Spirit days when they can wear Williams Academy Falcons branded apparel. For the other days, they all wear the uniform…mostly without complaint!

How You Can Help

That’s why we’ve started our Dress for Success program. Dress for Success is an Amazon wish list where donors can look through the items needed for students’ uniforms, choose what they would like to purchase, and have their gift shipped directly to The Crossnore School.

This is a year-round need because, as you probably know, kids outgrow their clothes, get holes in the knees, and stains on their shirts.Plus we have new children arriving weekly who need to be outfitted for school.

Racism is Trauma

Crossnore School & Children’s Home exists to be a sanctuary for children and their families and racism destroys sanctuary. Racism is trauma and is part of systemic community trauma that has long term negative impacts on people and communities of color. Crossnore believes that black lives matter, and we are committed to building an anti-racist organization and supporting the development of racial equity in our communities.
