Shawn, Kinley, Kacy's Story

When Kinley and Kacy initially entered foster care, they were placed at a residential facility three hours away from their family. Shawn, a loving dad, made sure to visit his girls once a week, but the long distance, missed work, and cost of gas made it difficult to keep their bond strong. But when Shawn was connected with Crossnore’s Bridging Families™ program, his story—and that of his two girls—began to change.

New Hope

After entering Crossnore’s care, the girls were placed into a nearby Crossnore Bridge home under the care of two devoted Bridge parents. Suddenly, Shawn could be part of their daily lives again, helping with homework, sharing dinners, and joining nightly routines. The family received therapy and comprehensive support, including help preparing their home for the girls’ return. As Shawn completed beneficial parenting training, their Crossnore case manager created special moments for family to reconnect. Shawn and the girls even spent a memorable evening in the Bridge home’s kitchen making cookies from scratch!

Through it all, the Bridge parents became a steady source of love and encouragement for Shawn. They supported him without judgment, helping him believe he could rebuild and reunify his family.

Safe, Secure, and Looking to the Future

Shawn’s journey wasn’t easy, but because of his dedication and the generous support of Crossnore friends, his story has been rewritten. Today, Kinley and Kacy are home safe, secure, and tucked into their own beds each night by their loving dad, who is healing and filled with hope for his family’s future.
