Community Engagement

Who We Are

In 2018, more than 16,000 children were in the foster care system in North Carolina. We are in a state of crisis making it increasingly difficult to serve this vulnerable population.

Children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect need a community to surround and support them during this traumatic time in their lives.

Crossnore Communities for Children provides a sanctuary of hope and healing for children and families in their homes, schools, and communities, and we need partners who share this belief and calling to work alongside us.

Holistic Support

Our programs work to shift the landscape of foster care to include the whole community. We recognize the holistic support of foster parents and the children in their homes leads to healthier and more successful foster care outcomes.

For our community, it’s important to shift our understanding of foster care from a place of “there’s a need or an issue to solve” to making foster care our local mission field. There are numerous avenues through which any individual or group in the community can support, love, and care for foster families and the children in their care.
