Artist Statement

Sarah is a natural light photographer who uses the landscapes of rural Northwestern North Carolina as her inspiration for her fine art photography as well as her portrait work. She is inspired by the beauty, colors and textures all around her. Through her photos she hopes to evoke appreciation and wonder for the little things most would never notice in their busy lives. Reflections, shadows and beautiful light beg to be captured and to be seen from a new perspective.

Racism is Trauma

Crossnore School & Children’s Home exists to be a sanctuary for children and their families and racism destroys sanctuary. Racism is trauma and is part of systemic community trauma that has long term negative impacts on people and communities of color. Crossnore believes that black lives matter, and we are committed to building an anti-racist organization and supporting the development of racial equity in our communities.
