Who We Are

Who We Are

Crossnore School & Children’s Home is non-profit child welfare organization supporting children and families in crisis.

Crossnore has three locations: one nestled on 86 acres in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain town of Crossnore, NC, the second located on 212 acres on the edge of downtown Winston-Salem, NC, and the third in the historic district of downtown Hendersonville, NC. We are committed to providing a sanctuary of hope and healing for children.

Residential Services
We have 21 homes on two campuses in North Carolina designed to serve the everyday needs of 150 children. The children live under the close supervision of two cottage parents, who are dedicated professionals providing love and assistance 24 hours a day. They allow for children to witness and be a part of a healthy, family relationship in the home. Crossnore School & Children’s Home is licensed to serve children from the ages of 1 to 21.

Clinical Services
Clinical Services are offered to children and families at all three of our locations following a complete assessment to determine needs. This assessment then drives the services that best meet those needs. Clinical services are available through outpatient and school-based therapy and Day Treatment services.

Foster Care & Adoptions
Our community-based services include single-family foster care and therapeutic foster care across western North Carolina. Foster families are recruited to undergo training and licensure before receiving child placements in their home. Ongoing training and support is provided after licensure.

Racism is Trauma

Crossnore School & Children’s Home exists to be a sanctuary for children and their families and racism destroys sanctuary. Racism is trauma and is part of systemic community trauma that has long term negative impacts on people and communities of color. Crossnore believes that black lives matter, and we are committed to building an anti-racist organization and supporting the development of racial equity in our communities.
