This policy provides general guidelines for signage on the campuses of Crossnore Communities for Children. The purpose of this policy is to:
- Provide clear, concise information for all users, improving way-finding.
- Promote public health, safety, and welfare.
- Promote a unified and attractive sign appearance for all facilities.
- Minimize maintenance and repairs of signs and buildings.
- Eliminate inconsistent, ineffective, and unnecessary signs.
All signage issues not specifically addressed by this or other Crossnore policies are to be referred to the Director of Communications, who works in conjunction with the Vice-President of Facilities and Chief External Relations Officer for signage approval, design, and placement.
- All signage will be approved and/or designed by the Office of Communications with input from specific departments as needed.
- All signage will meet current ADA requirements.
- All signage will meet city/county codes.
Permanent Signage
- New, permanent signage (including exterior building identification signage) will be installed under the direction of the appropriate Director of Facilities.
- Hazard and warning signs and locations are prescribed by government regulations including DOT and OSHA. Consult with the Director of Facilities regarding installation of these signs.
- Donation plaques are designed to recognize the generosity of our donors. Design is handled by the External Relations Office with input from the Director of Communications. Installation is handled by the appropriate Director of Facilities.
- Interior signage will be installed under the direction of the appropriate Director of Facilities.
- Office door signage will consist of a plaque with the employee’s name and title.
Temporary Signage
- Temporary signs (banners, yard signs, posters, easels, sandwich boards, etc.) may be placed by the specific department with prior approval from the Director of Facilities.
- Event-based signs (banners, yard signs, posters, easels, sandwich boards, etc.) will be installed no earlier than 30 days prior to the event date. Event-based signs must be removed within 24 hours of the end of the event.
- Event-based banners may be placed at each campus entrance and will be installed by the Director of Facilities. Banners may not be hung on fences, buildings, or other campus structures.
- Yard signs may be placed along road frontage, at campus entrances, and along campus roads for way-finding.
Outside Agencies
- Outside agencies will be presented a copy of this policy when their event is booked.
- Outside agencies are responsible for the design and printing of their signage.
- Outside agencies may not use Crossnore logos without prior approval from the Director of Communications.
- Outside agencies may place their signage on campus no more than 7 days prior to the event date.
- Outside agencies must remove all signage at the end of their event (no more than 24 hours after the conclusion of their event).
