Brett A. Loftis
Brett Loftis graduated from Furman University with degrees in Sociology and Political Science and in 2001 from Wake Forest University School of Law. After spending numerous years working in ministry and child advocacy, including as the Executive Director of the Council for Children’s Rights in Charlotte, NC, Brett came to Crossnore in 2013 as Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Brett leads all initiatives of the organization, including programs, advancement, facilities, finances, advocacy, and organizational growth. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching youth soccer and basketball. Brett is married to Sally and the couple have three sons.
Kenny Cook has a BA in Business Administration and a Master’s of Education from Milligan College in Tennessee. After spending a number of years as a high school teacher and coach at Mitchell High School in Spruce Pine, Kenny came to Crossnore in 2005 where he has served as a Residential Counselor and Residential Director. In his current role as Chief Facilities Officer, Kenny leads construction, maintenance, and housekeeping teams across Crossnore’s campuses. In his spare time, he loves to watch Carolina basketball. Kenny is married to Tava and the couple has three children and three grandchildren.
Caroline Hart graduated from Peace College (now William Peace University) in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. After spending 17 years in higher education fundraising and communications, most recently serving as Vice President of Advancement at Lees-McRae College, Caroline joined the Crossnore School & Children’s Home team in November 2014 as Chief Advancement Officer. In this role, she leads all fundraising, volunteer, special event, marketing/communication and DAR efforts for the organization. In her spare time, she loves being a soccer mom, shopping, and spending one-on-one time with her husband. Caroline is married to the Reverend Jim Hart and the couple has five very active children.
Teresa Huffman graduated from Western Carolina University in 1981 with a B.S. in Business Administration and from Appalachian State University in 1993 with a Master of Business Administration. After several years as an instructor at Mayland Community College and 18 years at Spruce Pine Community Hospital as the Controller, Teresa joined Crossnore School & Children’s Home in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer. In this role, she leads all financial aspects of the organization, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. In her spare time, she loves arts and crafts and enjoys travel. Teresa is married to Mike and the couple have one adult son.
Meribeth Robinson graduated from Nova Southeastern with a Master of Science degree in Child and Youth Care Administration. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a founding member of the National Association for Multiple Family Group Therapy. Meribeth worked in private practice for more than a decade providing therapeutic services to families, healthcare agencies, psychiatric practices, and schools. She joined Crossnore School & Children’s Home in 2015 as Chief Clinical Officer. In this role, Meribeth leads all clinical services of the organization, including outpatient therapy, school-based therapies, and day treatment. In her spare time, she is a runner, lifts weights, is a bit of a wine snob, and loves spending time at Lake Norman. Meribeth is married to Ann Gauthreaux and the couple have one adult daughter.
Angelina Giampocaro Spencer
Angelina Giampocaro Spencer graduated from Montreat College and King University with her degree in Early Childhood Education. She has dedicated 40 years of her life working directly with or on behalf of children. She taught elementary school for a number of years in several states and was a day care director for both government and private agencies. Angelina worked for the state of North Carolina as a Licensing Consultant for foster care for 13 years prior to joining Crossnore School & Children’s Home in 2015 as Chief Program Officer. In this role, she leads the residential, foster care and adoptions, Youth in Transition, and spiritual life programs for the organization. In her spare time, Angelina loves to sing and act, having sung with the Billy Graham Crusade and been named Actress of the Year for the Asheville Community Theatre. Angelina is married to Toby and the couple has two adult sons and a daughter-in-law.
Jenny Taylor graduated from Weber State University with a B.S. in Health Care Administration, from Western Carolina University with an M.A. in Human Resources and holds a graduate certificate in Organizational Leadership from Liberty University. Jenny joined Crossnore School & Children’s Home in 2004, beginning as the Director of Human Resources and is now Chief People Officer. In this role, Jenny leads the hiring, evaluation, and leadership development functions for the organization. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys the creative aspects of photography, and exploring vintage, antique, and estate sales, also known as “pickin’.” Jenny is married to Brian and the couple has two adult daughters.
